FUNCTIONAL RHINOPLASTY

Surgical operations performed to improve the appearance and functions of the nose are called functional rhinoplasty surgeries.

For those patients who are not satisfied with the shape of the nose and/or who have difficulty in breathing comfortably due to problems in the nasal anatomy, the “functional rhinoplasty” operations are an invaluable opportunity to improve quality of life.

During functional rhinoplasty surgeries, also called “rhinoplasty”, the problems that prevent breathing are also removed when the nose of a person is restructured in the most natural way.

The problems of nasal obstruction, which can occur for various reasons, such as the large or curved cartilage and bones in the intraspinal septum to block the breathing, and the size of the nasal conchae, can be eliminated during rhinoplasty operations. Although rhinoplasty operations are associated with rhinoplasty, the scope of the rhinoplasty is not limited to the aesthetic interventions that are solely performed to the nose.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FUNCTIONAL RHINOPLASTY

The nose is the most noticeable organ of the face and most influences the facial expression. The person can consult to aesthetic operations because the shape of the nose does not match with her/his general appearance due to congenital factors or subsequent problems.

Both the health and physical appearance of the person will restore after rhinoplasty is also performed to breathe more healthily as well as the desire to look better. Rhinoplasty is one of the most complicated processes for doctors among aesthetic operations. Each rhinoplasty operation is planned according to the needs of the patient. Two basic elements must be fulfilled in order to perform successful rhinoplasty operations.

The Nose Should Look Natural After Rhinoplasty.

The nose should look natural after rhinoplasty. For this purpose, patients and doctors have detailed interviews before rhinoplasty. Natural rhinoplasty cannot be performed without assessing the age, gender, height, character, lifestyle and results of facial analysis of those who want to have rhinoplasty.

No Post-Rhinoplasty Nasal Obstruction Should Occur.

The patient should not experience the problem of nasal obstruction in order to perform a successful rhinoplasty. Those who complain of nasal obstruction before surgery can breathe smoothly after successful rhinoplasty.

CHANGE AFTER RHINOPLASTY

  • Patients are relieved of respiratory problems due to the opening of airways after functional rhinoplasty.
  • During the planned surgery in line with the expectations and the results of face analysis of the patients;
  • The nasal tip can be sharpened,
  • The nose can be reduced or enlarged,
  • The nasal hump can be corrected,
  • The symmetry between the nostrils can be formed,
  • The nose can be collapsed or expanded.

The lives of patients, who have a natural sparkle in their look after rhinoplasty and have no signs of having any surgical operation, will change. If they are satisfied with their new appearance when looking in a mirror, it will lead to increased self-confidence in their both business and social life.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF RINOPLASTY?

Functional rhinoplasty surgeries can be performed with open or closed methods. The same procedures are applied for open or closed techniques, the difference being how to access the nose septum.

For the open rhinoplasty method, incision is made to the “columella” between the nostrils and the nose is reached. The nose skin is removed and the nose septum can be clearly seen. Thus, open rhinoplasty is usually preferred if radical changes are needed in the structure of the nasal bone and cartilage. A minimal-sized scar remains in the open rhinoplasty method; this scar becomes pale and unrecognizable over time.

No incision is made in the skin in the closed rhinoplasty method and the nose septum is reached through the nasal cavities. The closed rhinoplasty method may be preferred if no radical changes are made in the form of a nose. There is no scar on the patient after this operation.

The surgeons will evaluate the needs of the patient, the extent of the changes to be made and their overall health status, and determine the methods to be used in rhinoplasty operations. The expertise and experience of the surgeons has the power to directly influence the success of functional rhinoplasty operations.
